Local Volunteer
We have a volunteer system which is for local residents only. We have 170 local volunteers, many choosing to volunteer directly with the koalas. However, we always need more volunteers and currently have vacancies for Tour Guides, Donation Box Collectors, Souvenir Shop Volunteers, Koala Care Volunteers and volunteers to work at our Maria River Road Plantation planting koala food trees and caring for recently planted seedlings.
Every volunteer needs to provide evidence that they have had a tetanus vaccination and that they have a current Working With Children check.
Volunteering is open only to members aged 17 to 85. Members 14 to 16 years of age wishing to volunteer must be placed by their educational faculty (school, TAFE, etc.) through our Work Experience program. Members under 14 or over 85 are not eligible to volunteer.
Volunteers must attend various training sessions depending on the skill level they wish to attain and will be subject to an initial three month probationary period.
Our volunteers enable the Koala Hospital to carry out its important work with the koalas at risk. Join with a fantastic group of people by becoming a Volunteer.
